FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer professional services and industry standard pricing. Every project is unique, and I often ask for details to ensure I understand the full scope. I'm usually able to tell what level of editing is needed after seeing the first three chapters. This allows me to accurately quote each project. I discount nonprofits 10%.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I gladly consult by phone, email and Skype. Authors usually send manuscripts for proofreading, line editing, developmental editing, substantive editing, or research editing. I work through each chapter and send it to the author for approval. While awaiting feedback, I work on the next chapter. This ensures the book is precisely what the author envisions and is efficiently edited or ghostwritten.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an English degree from the University of Houston and am working on a later-in-life master's degree in digital media. I am contributing editor for five Houston-area magazines (10 years) and received the Excellence in Cancer Journalism from the American Cancer Society in 2009. In August 2017 I was recognized as #6 in a Top 15 Texas book editor ranking. As a book editor, I have assisted many dozens of author clients who have listed their books on Amazon. I also work with a boutique book publishing firm and assist authors throughout their book publishing journeys, including marketing and social media. I am a former certified English teacher and also a former paralegal. To sum up, I work fulltime in the world of words and enjoy my calling.
