Introduction: I've been both a social worker and a professional programmer in this lifetime - so I can translate geek speak to most folks. Over a decade of experience with smart home technologies, especially focused on the privacy-first Home Assistant ecosystem. From helping you figure out what you want, to getting your stuff up and running, I can make your home a little more magic. I am not a licensed electrician, so if you need to do long wire pulls or heavy installation, I can bring along some good people I know, or you can get that done first. What I am, is someone that knows the difference between zigbee and zwave, who knows what problems your router is having, who has - at last check, over 125 smart things in my own home from lights, to sound, to monitors and alarms, to buttons and knobs, to vacuums, smart irrigation, etc. You name it and I've played with it. I can help you think through or fix most issues you might be having, but I especially love Home Assistant. I have contributed to the code base, I know it very well, I love it's community-driven, privacy first, open-source stance. I love not being locked into any one vendors products and hubs. As a programmer, I love automating everything in the world as well, but mostly... It flat out works way better. I ahve tried them all, even ran a few for a year here or there, nothing beats the reliability and configurability of Home Assistant, once it is up and running.
