I have been going to Teresa for eight years and there are no words to express the change in my well-being. When I first went to Teresa I had just been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. My hands were red, swollen, painful, and stuck in a claw-like position. I noticed a difference in mobility after the first treatment. After the first couple of weeks the swelling had decreased and I had better use of my hands. The level of pain had been greatly reduced. I chose to use acupuncture rather than prescription medicines because of the side effects and potential health problems cause by the drugs. I continue to see Teresa twice a month and I have not had any severe flare-ups. My hands may get stiff and sore but after the treatments the soreness disappears and I forget I have arthritis. The severe pain is completely gone. I have had so much success with my treatments that I see Teresa for everything from colds to hot flashes. I was always the person who was afraid of needles and thus scared of trying acupuncture. After trying it I now recommend Teresa to everyone I come in contact with. I am sure she can help you, too.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I read constantly, as well as attending seminars as part of our required work to maintain a license as an acupuncturist. I specialize in endocrine and immune disorders, which means I treat any chronic illness. My continuing education reflects this focus, with training in treating diabetes, endometriosis, menopause, metabolic syndrome, PCOS, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, adrenal fatigue, and other conditions.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I became an acupuncturist because I was in a car accident in 1990 and crushed some vertebrae, along with some other health problems. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine helped me deal with my pain and other symptoms tremendously, and I knew I wanted to help others the way I had been helped.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask questions. Does the acupuncturist listen to you? Do they seem friendly? Have they treated your condition before? What were the results? What is their education? a Licensed Acupuncturist should have at least 3,000 hours including training in acupuncture, Asian medicine and herbal training. Do you like them? If the phone interview does not give you a feel for the practitioner, ask to visit their office before making a formal appointment. You should feel comfortable talking to your acupuncturist. Can they give you an idea of the cost for treatment? I usually give people an idea of how many visits they can expect before seeing some improvement.
