I am a former high school social studies teacher and department chair. I am also a published historian and a successful entrepreneur. I left classroom teaching in 2012 in order to work directly with students to help them succeed in school no matter what the subject, difficulty or level. I work with middle, high school and college students across the nation in general academic coaching, Language Arts, and Social Studies, including reading comprehension, literary techniques and logic, research and essay writing, I particularly enjoy helping students succeed in AP classes and SAT/ ACT tests, as well as to teach grammar, which is not taught effectively in schools these days. As an academic coach and mentor, I help students improve in organization, focus, executive function and overall academic performance. I also help students prepare and apply for college, including decision-making, essay writing, and the general process of college application. The A+ Club story: I developed the A+ Club in 2011 as a high school teacher with a simple yet powerful idea: when students articulate their goals and responsibilities, and when they receive ongoing and positive encouragement, they are more likely to fulfill them. When kids build academic ownership, their grades go up, and their parents are not just relieved, but happy! For math and science, I have a team of part--time teachers and college-level or college-graduate tutors who are experts in math, science, computer engineering, etc. and are available to help students as well.
