FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is pretty standard and basic. I charge my basic rate for a block of up to four hours. Pricing variances are based on type of function (birthday, wedding, outdoor vs. indoor, corporate event, school event, etc.), size of venue being used, equipment needed (regarding extensive lighting or not), number of attendees, dual set-ups that are over 300 feet apart, and to a much lesser extent location (if the event is outside of the 50 mile radius of Fairfax County, VA). I encourage my clients to inquire about pricing, even beyond my original quote.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
DJ'ing has always been in my blood. I got started playing records for my grandmother's card parties when I was 3 years old. I have pictures on my website to prove it. I've always prided myself in entertaining people and have a great ear for music and it's compatibility. Once I became an adult I collected so many CD's that I needed to do something with them. My family and friends started encouraging me to start DJ'ing in a business format, as I had gained experience over the years doing it for fun for my peers. Thus, in June of 1999 I created Chi Dr. Productions (Chi because I'm originally from Chicago and Dr as it is the initials of my name - Donnell Robinson). I've been so blessed and enriched with my talent and experiences. The best part is getting to know my clients and their attendees, it is a great forum to network from.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common type of jobs I perform are weddings, private parties (birthdays (including Sweet 16's, mehndi, quinceanara, bar & bat mitvahs), reunions, graduations, holidays, themed, corporate functions, school functions, pool, etc.). I've gained experience in these type of events since 1999.
