Where shall I start? I started my Loc journey last year at exactly this time (November). I had already been to 2 other locticians, and Sky is the third and final. The high caliber of work that was done was the whipped cream on top of the Chai Tea Latte-so to speak-for me that is. I called on Veteran's day, and even though Sky was busy running errands with family, she took my call, listened to my dilemma surrounding my negative past experiences, and booked an appointment with me right away. About a week later, a few days before our appointment I asked if she would have an in-person consultation with me. She agreed, and saw me the same day. She sprang into action, carefully examining my tresses as soon as I walked in the door, asking me pertinent questions that my last two stylists didn't even bother asking. Then she demonstrated one loc, using the interlocking tool (an amazing one I had never seen before), and before I could blink it was done. No pain, but tight, clean and neat. AND, she WRAPPED the loc so it looked uniform, primped and beautiful (something that neither of the previous locticians did). I run a business, and I need to keep a professional appearance. This put her at the top of my list instantly. The actual day of my appointment was even more fantastic. I arrived at Sky's Hair Oasis and there was Sky waiting for me with a smile on her face. We began right away with the shampoo, which smelled wonderful. Next, she put a treatment in my hair, (which also didn't happen at the other salon) and proceeded to let me sit with it for a few minutes. Next another wonderful shampoo then off to the chair. While Sky worked on my locs, she allowed me to see her work, in the process and explained what she was doing in real time. She also recommended simple, natural products to use on my hair to keep it looking fabulous, healthy and fly, as well as when to wash it next. She was fast, didn't take a bunch of breaks and had me on my way early to my next engagement. I actually felt like a client, a family member and a friend. I now have confidence in my crown, and I know when I walk out my door, I am put together. My students even commented on how my hair looked, saying it was "very pretty" (they are elementary school students)! I am very pleased with my experience, and look forward earnestly to my next appointment. THANK YOU SKY!! It is people like you who take the time to execute integrity, professionalism and tact, while educating those of us that are new on this journey of locs.

DIVA!!! That is all there is to say to accurately describe what Sky turns me into everytime I leave her salon... Dont worry its a good thing. Sky took this Type A, predictable, boring, whiny little brat and patiently turned me into the, stylish, refined... ok I'll stop being silly now but honestly Sky is simply amazing. I can't say enough good things about her. She's rescued my hair from years of mishaps and mistreatment and more than that she's managed to translate some of my bizarre requests into photo shoot and red carpet worthy reality. Over the years she has become a dear friend and does not only my hair but my sister's and several of my friends. Need I say more???

Sky is amazing!! When I decided to embark on my Loc journey, I had done TONS of research and knew exactly what I wanted. I could not have found a better gal for the job! When I called to schedule a consultation, Sky took time outside of her usual schedule to speak with me at length about the locking process. I knew I was in the right place as she listened carefully to my ideas of how I saw my locs, and genuinely cared to fully understand what it was I wanted. More awesome points for Sky for working with my limited availability to schedule the many hours it would take to complete my locs. She went out of her way to be sure that we had ample time. Now, my locs, the process involved, and the significance of having them, was something important to me. And Sky understood this. I have very long, fine hair- not the easiest job for starting locs, but she rose to the challenge! Throughout the process, Sky was so sweet, patient and professional. Sky is a true artist. She takes pride in her work, is very meticulous, and takes the time to do a fabulous job. I spent a good many hours in Sky's chair, and not only could I not be happier with the results (my locs are GREAT!), but I also feel blessed to have become acquainted with Sky along my Loc journey! I get compliments on my hair all the time and I just love my locs, but the real icing on the cake is having made a friend with a wonderful lady with a beautiful spirit and mad Loc-creating skills!!

How did you get started doing this type of work?
While growing up in New York, as a high school student, my Auntie encouraged me to do hair, since she saw the potential. I started doing hair on the weekends, and i enjoyed it. I then went to college for Business and only did family and friends periodically. Moved to CA and decided that i didn't want to have a 9-5 schedule. As a Lic. Cosmetologist i am enjoying the freedom it has to offer, while being a soccer mom, lol

My most common styles are Extensions (weaves), Locs, Press N Curls, Braids......Skin Care
