FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally charge $150 an hour for conventional caricatures, and $200 an hour for digital caricatures, with a two hour minimum. Conventional caricatures are drawn on letter-size paper, and each drawing goes into a plastic sleeve for protection. Digital caricatures are drawn on an iPad and projected onto a video monitor in real time. Each customer receives a printout and a digital file sent to his or her phone, both on the spot. I can draw about 15 caricatures an hour black and white, or 10 an hour in color. After two hours, I can work in 15-minute increments at $35 each.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After I speak to them, or correspond with them through e-mail, for the details of the party. I then send them an invoice for 25% of the estimated bill, to retain the date. This is done through PayPal. I also send a contract by e-mail, which they fill out and e-mail back to me. The remainder of the payment is due the day of the event, by cash or check.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to art school (twice!) for illustration, and I have been drawing all my life.
