FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge a premium rate for a premium service and unfortunately due to the high level of instructors here, are usually not able to offer discounts. Please see my reviews! Tuition pricing ranges anywhere from $100 - $500/month depending on lesson length and frequency and is paid by the month. All packages include access to Lara's private group class, The Sight Reading Club. This includes two, 60 minute group classes each month specifically on topics related to reading music. If you have any questions or comments, we'd love to chat with you, please feel free to reach out!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It depends on their playing level, but we usually go back to the beginning to start filling in any "cracks" that may be in your musical foundation. For the first lesson, I guide them through my basic method I use to teach sight-reading. By the end of the lesson, depending on their goals, a beginner will have read several pieces OR began practicing a skill they are interested in learning.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been classically trained with a private teacher for the better part of my life. I went on to study at California State University, Long Beach and the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music. I later received training from an exceptional composer who taught me an incredible method of sight-reading that has shown concrete, beautiful results in my students over the years. My focus on the fundamentals has given my students the tools they need to truly understand the music. I am gifted with great patience to teach the basics to a point of mastery so my students can take what they learn and apply it to any music they venture to play on their own. I understand that without mastering the basics, no greatness can come about. "What people don't realize is that professionals are sensational because of the fundamentals. The sensationalism has taken over the professionalism." Barry Larkin "Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals."
