Unlike the majority of designers and decorators who are typically commissioned salespeople, I do NO retailing of merchandise whatsoever. Instead, my role is to listen carefully to YOUR needs and preferences, and then provide fresh & stylish solutions to your decorating dilemmas, along with all-important technical advice to help you avoid making co$tly mistakes -- you’re then free to shop wherever you like, and I can also shop with you OR for you regionally, as well as online if desired (including passing along any trade discounts when available). As a result of my retail autonomy, you’re assured I’ll never be maneuvering you into a given purchase or foisting a “sales pitch” on you, period (!).
With my strong color sense, mixing fabrics/patterns is also a longtime specialty of mine, and I also zero in on what a homeowner’s OWN style is vs. imposing my personal taste/preferences. Additionally, I provide 2D/3D space planning with realistic room renderings so clients can test-drive various ideas on paper BEFORE buying or building (I utilized this skill in designing my own custom residence for which I also served as the general contractor – as a result of my careful pre-construction planning, there were NO change orders during our build). 2D/3D renderings are an especially helpful tool for those who have trouble visualizing.
Given my graphics capabilities another option I've added in recent years is re-coloring exterior photos of a client's own home so they can SEE various color palette options, and I can also add/delete various architectural features/elements too. These specialized services are also provided remotely to clients with projects outside the region (e.g. “e-interior design”) via email, online, video, and phone communication.
Lastly, as a result of my 25+ years experience, I've also been widely quoted as a design expert in the national media for articles on: Realtor.com (including featuring a photo of my own home), Redbook, Parade, U.S. News & World Report, FoxNews.com, Chicago Tribune (nationally syndicated columns), BobVila.com, Bed Bath & Beyond's blog, and the National Home Furnishings Assoc., et al. I've also written over a dozen feature articles on interior design for the 150-yr. old newspaper which serves western Nevada County in California's Sierra foothills where I've been based since 2004 (after relocating from Sonoma County where my business was founded in 1992). These and other decorating articles appear in the Library on the more detailed of my two websites, one of which is an overview/landing page.
Overall, "there's no place like HOME" is a long-held sentiment of mine, so I deeply value the opportunity to help my clients bring their OWN vision of the ideal refuge from today’s hectic world to fruition...
