By using our knowledge from Applied Animal Behavior, Zoology, Animal Science and Neuroethology, we provide practical, long-term solutions for our clients. Whether you are experiencing issues with aggression or need help training your pet to take medications, we can help! In addition to helping pet parents, we also provide a variety of educational resources to psychologists, social workers, veterinarians, zookeepers, wildlife rehabbers, trainers, groomers and many others. We firmly support LIMA and the Humane Hierarchy. Service area: In-person consults offered throughout the midwest. Web-based consults offered worldwide. Melinda was very helpful in providing me information and ways I can continue to work with my cat to help her feel less anxious. She was very professional, and it is obvious she is very compassionate about animals. I am very happy with my experience in working with her. What I liked best is that she equipped me with tools and knowledge that I can use to improve my cat's behaviors and general well being.

Melinda was very knowledgeable. She gave me several suggestions which were very helpful. At first I honestly didn't think they would work. But they did! She suggested keeping our cats inside for 90 days so that the cats didn't have outside smells on them. We also moved the cat boxes per her suggestion and clean them twice a day. We are now a very happy cat pee friendly environment thanks to Melinda!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Melinda tries to work with every family and stay within their financial means. Rates vary based on the species and how far she has to travel. We can accept check, credit card, cash, or paypal. We offer discounts for clients that book more than one training session. We schedule all appointments via our website. Please visit our website and click the,"Book An Appointment Now" button. There is also a "Schedule Now" button.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first visit is the BIG one. We ask that customers clear at least, one hour of their schedule. The first consultation can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours depending on the complexity of the behavior issues. We also prefer for all pet owners to be present and a quiet environment during the first visit. This way Melinda can make your pet(s) feel comfortable around her and get to know them. This allows both Melinda and the pet parents to really focus on the problems at hand.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Melinda left academia in 2017 to focus on animal behavior consulting full-time but is a trained Animal Behavior Scientist that still regularly volunteers for scientific research. She has over 15 years of experience with felines and numerous years of training with other species.
