I would recommend two things. First, look at the photographer's portfolio and see if you like their style. You are hiring a person, and each person has their own style and way to tell a story. Second, make sure that they are legit. Are they a legal entity, do they have professional printing rights, do they have contracts, a plan if something goes wrong?
