John, the owner of Sedona Landscape Designer, designed and built a renovated entry courtyard at our Sedona home. We fully endorse his work. Below Ive listed a few points you may want to consider when choosing a firm to plan and execute your landscaping project. John respected both our vision for the project and our budget. He offered us alternatives that kept us within our budget while creating a beautiful and serene outdoor room. Johns crew works quickly, quietly, and carefully. They did not leave behind clean-up projects for us and even cleaned debris off the craggy faces of the boulders in our landscape. Johns approach to landscaping supports a naturalized, balanced approach. He discourages designs that demand high levels of manicured maintenance. This is fine with us, as it allows the natural habit of our vegetation to showcase itself. John solved problems encountered on our site without seeking our approvals all along the way. He communicated with us throughout the project, but at an appropriate level. He did not ask us to approve every decision. For us, this level of self-confidence was important as we were resident in Sedona for only a part of the project. The result was a project completed on time and without a lot of worries for us. John did a great job on our yard. His service was very professional and the job was completed on time and on budget. John's design makes our back yard feel bigger and it looks wonderful. John has good eye for what works and the plantings he chose are very pleasing. John went above and beyond what I thought would be included on this type of job; we are very happy with the results.

John Leslie just finished designing and landscaping our backyard. He designed a beautiful plan with an outdoor fireplace, outdoor bar, pavers, and an area with artificial turf. While John is an excellent landscape architect and builder, we also respect and appreciate his ability to listen and, quite importantly, educate on design and plant types ! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing is competitive. Our design fees are usually much less than a comparable landscape architect. Our goal is to build the design and being the designer who builds the design adds value to the design expertise that is carried throughout the construction phase
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We separate the process of providing a "quote" or "estimate" from the actual costs to construct the project. Depending on the complexity of the project we may charge a fee to prepare a design in order to determine real costs, not simply an estimate.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from California State Polytechnic Pomona
