Introduction
I personally do all the restoration work given to me, while others often delegate it to others, or outsource it to foreign countries. I've worked for photography shops in the past, and most jobs were sent away for others to do. I never liked that. I'm a perfectionist, and prefer to do the work myself, so as to guarantee satisfaction from the customer. Photo restoration is not only very enjoyable, but it's like solving a puzzle. It feels great to sit down and work on a photograph from start to finish, and know that I helped preserve a memory of someone's loved one. The look of joy on my customer's face, when I show them my work, makes it even more worthwhile!

I came to Grant around Valentine's Day, looking for him to help me create a special present for my boyfriend. Right when we started dating of October 2003, his youngest brother was killed by a drunk driver. He kept this photo of him with his brother in his wallet, and because of that, the photo was highly damaged. The photo had rips and wrinkles and was extremely faded. Grant said the photo was pretty badly damaged, but that he would fix it. Within a week's time, the photo was totally restored and when I received it, I cried. In giving my boyfriend the picture, he too cried telling me it was the most thoughtful gift and I gave him something to remind him of the person that keeps him going. Grant's work was quick and amazing. I would recommend him to any and all of my friends.

I was amazed at how great the pictures turned out that Grant edited for me! One of the pictures we gave him was so old and torn to pieces, (one corner of the picture was missing completely) that I didn't expect he could do much, but when he sent it back it looked like there had never been anything wrong with it. He filled in the missing corner completely and the rest of the picture was flawless! I've recommended him to friends and family and they've all been more than pleased with his work as well!

Grant has restored several photos for us. Each time I have been amazed at the detail and precision. He has always done an excellent job. My mother passed away when I was young and I don't have very many pictures of her as a young girl. My aunt found a wonderful picture but it was literally in pieces. I kept it in an envelope, afraid to handle it too much. I was nervous to turn it over to someone. Not only was the restoration flawless, the original was handled with extreme care and returned in the exact same condition it was received.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I mainly work on black and white photographs. They're much easier to fix, seeing as I don't have to worry much about fixing color. However, I have been known to restore color photos. Dust, folds, tears, holes, and discolored photos are all part of my growing portfolio. I haven't had a photograph that I haven't been able to fix yet. There are, of course, limitations to my line of work, and sometimes it takes a long time, but I always enjoy it.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Getting a photo restored takes a lot of time and effort. I can work quickly, but the customer needs to know that sometimes his or her photos will cost quite a bit of money to be fixed. That being said, I am relatively cheap, in comparison to other restoration services, and you will be satisfied.
