Introduction
We offer kung fu classes for both children and adults. The term kung fu, in the popular idiom, means "Chinese martial arts:; however, in China the phrase can also be used to describe any skilled activity that requires long, hard work to master. Thus, it could be said that one has a "good kung fu" at baking, painting or archery (for example). Here at the academy, we respond well to both the traditional and the popular meanings of the word "kung fu". The martial roots of what we do are in good part Chinese in origin. We also acknowledge that martial arts is something that requires patience and hard work over time, and we are dedicated to providing all students with quality instruction and support in their training with this scope and focus in mind. Throughout their studies, students are exposed to striking, grappling, throwing, weapons, sparring, teaching and forms. We believe that the generalist, a well-rounded student, with a broad range of experience has a better chance at survival (in facing the unexpected) than the specialist.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We believe in the "total" martial artist - a student who not only understands the physical aspects of training - striking, throwing, grappling, forms, weapons but one who also understands that training is meant to build and develop character and compassion. Students training at the Academy will find an emphasis on practicality, growth, fitness, reflection, skill and patience.
