Clients need to feel comfortable and at ease during a shoot. Being photographed isn't always as simple as it looks. Setting the tone, creating an environment of artistic freedom, integrity and flexibility means keeping the needs of the client first.
After getting my MFA in Graphic Design from MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art ) I decided to go full force with my one woman studio practice JT Photo & Design, where I handle a range of small to medium print, web projects and photography for a various publications, educational institutions, community organizations, independent musicians, professional artists, couples, and families
Some of my clients have included Creative Alliance at The Patterson in Baltimore, University of Maryland College Park and Grammy Award winning artist Imogen Heap. During my graduate studies my collaborative work was recognized in Adbusters, Print Magazine and Metropolis Magazine.
In 2012 I was nominated for Photographer of Year at the 4th Annual Baltimore RAWards 2012 Indie Arts Awards. In 2013 and 2014 I had the pleasure to create and contribute album artwork and photography for two Grammy nominated projects.
I'm also dedicated and passionate about arts education. From 2010-2012 I served as an art instructor teaching design and photography to 5th graders for the Creative Alliance Open Minds Education Program. I served as adjunct faculty at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Prince George's Community College. I currently teach full time as Art & Design faculty at Bowie State University.
I believe in crafting a very natural and casual tone with my images while striving to visually enhance the organic narrative. Whether photographing a wedding, an expecting family, or a musician, the client is the most important, how they feel, the story they want to tell is my top priority.
