FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I ask a base rate for a two-hour session with clients. However most hypnotherapy work requires multiple sessions and thus, I have a discounted rate for multiple sessions. Usually, the more a client is willing to commit to the results of the hypnotherapy process, the better those results will be.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I first begin working with a new client, I spend a considerable amount of time getting to know them, learning about their issues and their past in detail, and helping them understand what hypnosis is all about. We often spend the first half of the initial two-hour session in this discussion, as we plan out the work we will do. The second hour we do the initial hypnotic work to help the client learn what hypnosis feels like, what to expect and how to work with the hypnotic state. We explore positive moments in the person's life (real or imagined) to recall their strengths and positive emotions. I usually provide some post-hypnotic suggestions and/or neuro-linguistic patterns to immediately help the client through at least the week or so until the second session. In the second and subsequent sessions, we will most likely explore events, memories and beliefs at the core of the issue. We will then use the strengths and resources we found earlier to bring healing to those past events. .
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My Initial training and certification with the National Guild of Hypnotists has involved many extended (80 hour plus) weeks of study and practice in the latest hypnotherapy techniques, including NLP, regression and parts therapy, working with emergency and stress conditions, and dealing with different types of mind, body and spiritual issues. The National Guild of Hypnotists requires at least 15 hours of continuing education per year. I usually can get most of this in at the annual National Guild of Hypnotists meeting, with about 30 hours over an extended weekend. In addition to this, I attend numerous workshops in psychology, complimentary/alternative healing, etc. Overall, I probably attend about 100 hours of continuing education over any given year. In addition, most hypnotherapists take extensive course work in the latest techniques for hypnotherapy, the latest in psychology theory, etc. The field is advancing at a sufficient rate that hypnotists need to continually train to maintain their edge in this competitive field. .
