FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Totally by chance, my sister got married a few years ago and decided to order flowers wholesale. Her venue coordinator had offered to help her put together the flowers, but I guess a week or so before the wedding, she realized it was too much work and bailed. My sister drafted whoever was around (including me) and we ended up doing the arrangements ourselves. I had a lot of fun doing it, and realized I had a knack for it. After that, a close friend was planning her wedding, and trying to keep her costs down- so I offered to do her flowers. Then a friend was planning a baby shower, her cousin saw my work and asked that I do her wedding.... And it kind of just blossomed (forgive the pun) from there!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We recently had a couple request a rainbow theme. And at first, I'll admit we were a little skeptical that it would turn out well. The brides wanted each of their bridesmaids to have a different color (and matching shoes) and then they would have the whole rainbow in their bouquet. When we went to pick out the flowers, we found such beautiful, vibrant colors. And the bouquets turned out beautiful! We really loved being a part of their wedding, and were so happy that they loved the flowers as much as we did.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't be afraid to meet with several different florists/wedding planners. You should get a good feeling about them based on pictures of past work and client testimonials, but you want to make sure that you really click when you sit down and talk face to face. You want all of your vendors to be excited about your event, because that means they will do their best work for you!
