I moved down to gorgeous Sarasota, FL in 2020 after spending twenty years as a professional musical theatre actor and artist in New York City. My acting career has taken me across the world. Tours: Miss Saigon (Chris-Over 950 Performances ), Showboat (Steve Baker). Tokyo, Japan: The Who’s Tommy (The Specialist). Regional: Goodspeed Opera House, Westchester Broadway Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, Waterfront Playhouse, Maples Repertory Theatre, Sierra Rep, The Studio Theatre Tierra Del Sol, Mad Cow Theatre, Downtown Cabaret Theatre, New Provincetown Players, Bergen PAC. Jerry Lukowski in "The Full Monty"-(Best Actor from BroadwayWorld Kansas City Awards), NYC: Musicals Tonight, Fringe Festival, NYMF, 54Below, Carnegie Hall. Education: Westminster Choir College, The American Musical & Dramatic Academy.

Alan has been great to work with! I first met him in an acting class he was teaching at a regional theater, and I leapt at the chance to take small-group classes out of his studio. I've acted for years, almost entirely musicals. I've loved the opportunity to work monologues and scenes. And songs! I'd not sung much in over 10 years so added voice lessons to my performance curriculum . Taking voice lessons from Alan has brought my vocal mojo back and introduced me to some valuable techniques I'd not know before. I've gained a lot of confidence in both disciplines, auditioning for some professional theater. And I am enjoying our work tremendously! You can't go wrong with Alan. Seriously.

Alan Gillespie is someone who will introduce you to the art of acting and guides you through on your own terms. There is minimal "hand-holding" but instead tests in talent. Every class is a new challenge for yourself, but Alan makes it both fun and rewarding, but you gotta put in the effort.
He will tell you what works and what doesn't, he will not sugarcoat for the sake of feelings or agree-to-disagree. However, he NEVER insults or downplays your abilities. He strives in seeing progress and finding what truly speaks to his students.
I've been in his classes for a year now. Thanks to him, I'm feeling ever so confident in my ability as an actor and artist! It's 100% worth it!
