Daniel is a fantastic chef, his food was delicious, nicely presented, highly customizable and everyone at our wedding enjoyed it immensely. We hired him to cater our wedding at the Hammond Castle and he was easy to work with, extremely accommodating, flexible and absolutely worth the money. We wanted to have an immersive fairy tale themed wedding and wanted to incorporate ingredients that appeared in storybook fairy tales into the food we serve our guests. So upon request and after numerous revisions, Daniel patiently and creatively customized the whole menu (from hors d'oeuvre to the buffet to to the side dishes) fit our theme and even came up with some creative names for the dishes. We are really blessed to have found Daniel on Thumbtack! We didn't have a large budget, and as anyone that is planning a wedding these days knows, food is expensive and just about everything associated with a wedding has gone up. But unlike others, Daniel's catering company doesn't charge thousands of dollars for staffing and things that made you say to yourself, "why am I paying for these?" He quoted us the food and bar (Open bar with wine, beer and sangria) cost per head, cost per server and bartender and when we finalized the guest count, he added in the tip. Everything was clear and there were no surprises. The only complaints that we had with Daniel was that his service doesn't include rentals and he only takes cheques! However, with the money we've saved, the quality that we get and the outstanding outcome for our event, those are not an issue at all.

Daniel catered a backyard party for 70 to celebrate my son's upcoming marriage. He designed a fabulous menu and was a pleasure to deal with before the event. On the evening of the party, the temperatures were in the 90's and it was very humid and Daniel was working out of a kitchen that was barely air-conditioned. Despite these tough conditions, the food was fabulous. We had a Mediterranean platter, about six passed appetizers and beef with mashed potatoes and a fish dish with mashed potatoes served in martini glasses. We also had an assortment of delicious mini pastries, cookies and brownies for dessert. Our guests RAVED about the food and it was plentiful. We had two servers (one was Daniel's daughter) who were delightful and a bartender who was very warm and kind (guests commented on how great she was). Right before dessert, it started to rain, and we had to quickly move indoors and Daniel and his crew did this effortlessly. Daniel left the kitchen where he worked (our next neighbor's house) spotless. I would hire Daniel again in an instant - his food made the party and we got very, very, very positive feedback from all of our guests.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am a small caterer, I don't have the overhead of other catering companies. This allows me to be flexible and reasonable with pricing.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing I do when working with a new customer is meet with them at the location. I want the customer to feel comfortable and get to know me personally before the event, and avoid all kinds of surprises. I like to see the location, help with the planning, and to discuss and customize the menu for the event according to the location as well. This is all free of charge!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BU Culinary School, and many years of work handling different events of all sizes in hotels and restaurants such as the Four Seasons in Edmonton, Canada, Sonesta Hotel in Bermuda. By speaking different languages, traveling, and working in different countries, I have experienced many different cuisines which shows in my cooking.
